There used to be a time when war was waged only in battlefields....

But when you come from a home where this was not so,
There would be such constant fear..

Of sirens and gun shots,
 & our prayers would only fill the heavens,

Be it day or night...

Some wield weapons to protect,

Others wield them for reasons,

That make little sense...

& we end up losing a little bit of love,
Along the way...

In a world where bullets,
They rain...
& all we can do is...

Hope,  Pray and maybe Wish...

That our stolen innocence,

When you google... UGLY CATS

      A friend and I were recently entertained by one of our mutual friend's love for the feline species. This ultimately got us teasing each other about cats, dogs, clowns etc... Teasing each other is obviously the most critical responsibility of every friend. That being said, I googled ugly cats and I was introduced to a page with an interesting glimpse in to 22 cats on smosh.com.

     Here are some of the pictures I saw there... I decided to add captions to them, which I thought might be quite appropriate.

The Gain...

    The season of giving is also the season of gaining weight and for good reason as well... Christmas cake is awesome, not to mention the endless supply of chocolates... Being naughty or nice may give Santa Claus some leverage over gifts but I highly doubt he can help you lose the weight. Off I go to join a gym this winter season... I think there's an actual association between the changing weather and my increased appetite. Obviously one could explain this with a number of reasons like metabolic needs and seasonal affective disorder. But I have gained 10 pounds over the last month so, I'm definitely feeling the gain this year, especially when you get sudden bouts of breathlessness. The fat deposits where the fat wants to deposit, it is the law of the fat. Bring it on FAT!!!

The Wild Elephant...

   So I've never been to a Rain forest till August this year. "C'etait parfait" or almost perfect I guess. How did I feel? I felt excited that I was about to experience something completely new. One would feel alive and extremely fresh when taking in the scenery.  There's something about the trees and so much life around you that makes you feel so spirited. Fresh air and feeling so cool in the midst of no where is quite an experience. The experience was called the "Sinharaja Forest Reserve".

             Since the escapade was only to last a few hours or less than a day, our outing was limited to the buffer zone. The buffer zone is somewhat of a perimeter that surrounds the reserve, just as dangerous and just as wild but it allows people in the surrounding villages to collect fire wood and other raw materials they may need from it. There by protecting the heart of the forest.

                       Unfortunately the government hopes to encroach on this land in order to exploit it's recent boom in tourism. This lush greenery and leading waterways maintain the life it surrounds as well as the wild life in the actual forest reserve. Destroying it to simply give a few tourists a better view of a number of birds... Hmmm... Seems rather crude... Our love of the environment should not be to get the best shot of a rare bird or live in luxury with nature. But to live in synergism with it and do no harm.

            Green politics aside, the love of the outdoors and my uncle's addiction to photography got us moving deeper in to the vegetation. If you think about it, taking pictures of animals and plants is kind of like a enormous photo-shoot of nude animal and plant celebrities. To be published in the next play manure magazine. LOL... Hmmm
     

             The secret to taking pictures of birds is silence. One might say pin drop silence which is the exact phrasing my uncle used. Unfortunately he should have known that bringing along 3 novices to his endeavor might end up going terribly WRONG. So after he emphasized on the fact that we should most certainly seem mute during the journey, he took point and walked ahead to get a picture of some rare something beaked pigeon. Or was it chicken... I dunno...  If you've never been to a rain forest, always remember... LEECHES!!! As I walked attentively toward him, I felt a tingling sensation on my feet and being warned of the possibility of leeches and snakes... I screamed... High pitched and girly!!! My uncle ran toward us and with a serious tone in his voice said " I heard a wild elephant". Unfortunately I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or not...

     The best way to deal with leeches and mosquitoes is to spray a hell of a lot of liquid laced in nicotine, me thinks... Either way it got rid of all those leeches heading up my leg. Talk about inappropriate moves on a first date...

There was so much to see... But seriously, so little time... They say you only need one voice to preach a cause... But that really doesn't mean that everyone would listen, would it? That only happens in movies...

The Stars say...

      Would you believe it, if someone read your palm and spoke of the future? Would you read the section of the newspaper detailing the life of Gemini? Over the centuries, individuals have claimed to see our futures, may it be death that would soon knock on the door or dramatic life changes that would come to be... Being Sri Lankan, I know the dynamics of how this astrological story comes about... Not the exact mechanism of it, but more like the fall out... People would often consult someone whose got an PhD in this area, before getting engaged or even married. It is a common practice of the masses, especially in Sri Lanka and I'm told India as well... The stars have spoken that "The 2 of you are not compatible..." or "That if you 2 get married you may have devil babies..." or perhaps " If the 2 of you actually go through with this, one of you may actually die or kill each other in order to survive..."
         Do you believe in horoscopes?? Would you place your faith in the stars?? Would you live by the inscriptions written in your palms... The science of it all maybe fact, it may also be fiction... Who knows? The question is that, if it were this simple, why isn't everybody doing it. Well in my experience and those of my friends, it's a practice of the parents... Maybe it's a sign of surety that they no longer need to worry about their children. Unfortunately I don't think it's that simple... Take the western culture of astrology, they aren't so specific and only the minority of people would actually put any faith on the science.
          All it usually says is that for example; Lets see... I'm gonna read some stars...
If you're a Sagittarius your bound to start experimenting with animals to create the one true species, or mutate yourself in to half a goat...
Or if you're a Gemini, it's time to start experimenting or an interest of the dramatic arts are in order.
Aries - You may have a superiority complex or a love of S&M.
Cancer - Are you addicted to self mutilation?
Libra - You may want to weigh yourself occasionally... Exercise helps...
Aquarius - Watersports? Really???
            All jokes aside... I think life's got a lot to give and if you're going to stick around till someone else tells you what to do... You maybe heading in the wrong direction...

The Possibility

The possibility of us,

The probability everything's alright,
